I did not know about this thread until then. There you go again twisting the truth or what was said. I never said you can't use side mounts on high hp zeds at track. You can do what you like, I did say and know that generally speaking you need a bigger cooler and front mount for high hp and track use to get better performance and to be safe. All these theories abound but the bottom line is from our numerous tests it is different in reality. I think we all agree generally speaking that FMIC are larger in volume and can go much thicker but even the normal size to the largest corner mounts. We also agree that there is more direct air flow to the FMIC. We even agree that intake temps on tests show FMIC cooler than corner mounts. I agree that the horizontal core FMIC is not the best design and long tubes are restrictive and blocks air flow to radiator. For race or hot climates you need a larger radiator and or decent grill between the headlights like our large horizontal vent type we sell or water temps will get too hot. Keep in mind intake temps are cooler which also assists with engine temps. Am I missing something here? Keep in mind theories and one or two hits on the dyno is very different to many runs on dyno and hard driving at the track like I do regularly. Also our current FMIC compared to our earlier FMIC which I believe is the one tested by Z1 which we now have a better more efficient core, smooth light weight alloy pipes which dissipate heat much better than the stainless ones we use to have, and smoother tapered end tanks. Then FMIC I submit would be better for flow in some ways with decent pipes compared to corner mounts which have sharp bends to clear the side of front bar so ? Not all FMIC or corner mounts are same obviously. Either way my car with FMIC makes 200rwkw which is around 270hp at only 3400rpm and is very responsive as well as many other zeds road and race we have put our FMIC and they make more power and have less prob with heat than corner mounts. Intake temps recorded on our dyno clearly show generally FMIC have much less intake temps than large corner mounts consistently. One or two hits even but more so with tuning and doing lots of runs even with two large fans aiming at each corner mount we still need to spray water on the smaller side coolers, especially in our summer which often gets over 100F.
In case anyone here is wondering we sell both FMIC and Large Corner mounts and the car tested and that started this discussion had our corner mounts so not biased.
I hope you don't crap on too much on this forum and ruin it for the guys here also Zilsuv. I also note that one of your insulting post against a member on the aus300zx forum was just deleted by moderators. I can't believe you are a doctor or a practicing one? God help your patients with your attitude and character.
